Layout of Tower Core
The floor plate size will need to be designed to the areas described in the previous post at a minimum.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The ORANGE highlighted doorways needs to have easy and direct access from ALL floors. The YELLOW highlighted doorway is the medical elevator which needs to be inside the medical room on the first floor. The PURPLE doorway needs to be accessible but can be accessible from ANY room. It's only for mechanical purposes. The only room w/out an X through it is a mechanical shaft, along with area behind stairs.Remember: TIME is CRITICAL

Conclusion for 3.04.09
- three towers are in a fairly straight line (not a triangle)
- building will be about 800-1000ft long
- about 300ft wide
- the slopes will be about 75ft wide
These are the measurements the architecture and structural group came up with:
Runs/Noodles: ~50' to ~70' changing in size making people slow down and speed up.
Towers: ~50'x~50'
And i was thinking that the group that was designing the layout of the parking, might consider putting the parking under the runs. This would be important because we get LEED points for conserving parking space.

SKI SLOPE - question
This may be helpful in determining the degree of the runs to match our target skiers ability...

For Reference: The slope of a standard stair is approx 30 degrees.

Matt,
That corner is owned by the Port of Seattle and has been a very desirable lot in Seattle. Magnolia residents have a lot of say (not always nice) about what should be built (or not built) there. Beginning in April, it will be used for 5 months for the cars of passengers going on the cruise ships. Seeing how there is no end in site for years of ongoing cruises, that lot will always need to be cleared out each Spring.
That said, many developers have had grand visions for this lot.
Currently, you can go to the www.interbaydistrict.com site and look up the story on "Interbay's...south end." and that will give you a visual of what they have in mind.
Hope that helps,
Bruce
> Hi Bruce,
>
> Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've been preparing for a trip.
> The plan has developed so that we're locating the site in the
> South-West corner of the Smith's Cove parking lot, so any help in that
> particular area would be great.

> Sincerely,

Site!!!
Now it is time to select a site.
We will be voting on a site at the next meeting and as stated before;
"If you don't choose one, we will!!!"
Some things to consider when looking for a site:
· Remember what your project is!!!!! (SKI/SPA)
· Rural? Urban?
· What is the climate like?
· How close it is to public transit? a population?
· East coast? West coast? Midwest?
· US or abroad?
· What is the topography like (flat, mountainous, lots of plants, desert)
· Lots of sun, wind, geothermal, tidal energy?
· Open site (ie. side of unused hill)
· Compacted site (underside of a freeway?)
The sky is the limit on this site selection. Lets see some discussion.
Homework!!!!!
During the next two weeks!
Post- sketches, poems, writings, haiku's, link to google earth images, maps etc. Put forth ideas and defend them. If you send us a link we can post it.
Make sure to VOTE!! Check out the poll on the blog. Good Luck!!
